A quiet place for your heart

A place for your heart,
Noël online chapel.

Noël is an online chapel for Christian prayer and reflection in the warmth of Christmas. Walk through the chapel in third person, meet other visitors in real time, light a candle and join someone's prayer with an Amen. You are welcome to stay at your own pace.

Enter the chapel
01

Slowly, at your own pace.

01

Walk together

See your character and other visitors in the same space. Use WASD or arrow keys, or hold the translucent joystick on a touch screen. Click or briefly tap a clear floor to walk to its circular marker; direct keyboard or joystick input cancels the route. While sliding, these inputs and floor taps steer instead. Drag to look around and use the wheel or two fingers to change distance. Find My position in More to recenter. The rehearsal room is behind the choir, reached around the left of the stage. Step on the blue floor pads by the chapel door to travel between chapel and courtyard; safe arrival positions prevent an immediate return. Existing door buttons also work. Near an empty pew or outdoor bench, choose Sit or select the seat. Move or choose Stand up to leave it.

02

Play in the snowy courtyard

Choose Start rolling snow and walk to grow a snowball. Roll far enough to complete a snowman that other visitors can see. After a short protection period, a nearby moving character scatters it back into snow. Toggle the sparkler to carry golden sparks; it turns off indoors and in the snowball field. A deer, two cats and a rabbit also roam the online courtyard. Approach a resting animal to pet it. The hand motion, animal response and little hearts are shared with other visitors.

03

Say a little hello

Send up to 120 characters in Chat. A bubble above your character is visible to visitors in the same space for about eight seconds. Recent chat shows three messages on mobile and five on larger screens; expand a long message to read it. The feed includes messages from all spaces, so you can notice greetings from far away. It lasts only while the current page stays open. Do not post personal details or contact information. In a private chapel, chat appears only on your device and is not sent online.

04

Join scheduled prayer

Shared prayer scenes run in Korea Standard Time (KST): daily dawn prayer at 05:00–05:20, and Sunday services at 09:00–09:20, 12:00–12:20 and 14:00–14:20. The lights dim and the pastor moves to the center. Scripture changes every ten seconds in the guide visible throughout the chapel. Late arrivals join the current session. Screen controls are locked during the session and your projector settings return afterward. This is an automatic scene, not a church livestream or attendance record.

05

Rest with Scripture

The central screen displays a cross and 36 passages about Christmas, comfort, peace and love. Between scheduled prayers, browse them yourself or pause the automatic 20-second changes. During a scheduled session, the cross and prayer or worship status appear, and ordinary screen controls are temporarily locked.

06

Share candles and prayers

Near the candle table, press Light a candle once to light it. Near the pastor, or while praying standing or seated in any space, choose Leave a prayer to write your thanks and hopes. Write and Read tabs keep the two spaces separate. Opening, closing or submitting a prayer keeps your seat and prayer pose. Nothing is posted until you choose Send. The Christmas trees by the stage open the prayer list, where you can join others with an Amen. Pray and Greet are directly available at the lower right. Praying while seated loops the folded-hands pose; Finish praying returns to sitting, or move to stand up.

07

Take a quiet moment

Choose one, three or five minutes for reflection. The music-note button opens a compact player for hymns, carols and reflective piano. Browse tracks or adjust volume in Settings. Near the chapel piano, choose Play to use touch keys. In the rehearsal room, select the piano, guitar or drums. Choose a guitar chord and strum, or play five drum pads. Instrument audio is private to your device. Stop, close or leave the tab to release sounds and inputs and return to your character view.

Common questions

When are dawn prayer and Sunday services?

In KST (UTC+9), daily dawn prayer runs 05:00–05:20. Sunday services run 09:00–09:20, 12:00–12:20 and 14:00–14:20, including public holidays. Arriving late joins the remaining time. The pastor's ordinary guide also announces the schedule. During a session, Scripture and its reference change every ten seconds in your selected language's edition. Your projector settings return afterward; music is unchanged. These are automatic shared scenes, not church livestreams or attendance records.

Do inactive characters stay visible?

A real visitor who is reading or praying quietly remains visible while their connection heartbeat is valid. We do not move someone to a seat simply because they stop moving. Confirmed disconnections disappear, and a missed disconnect is excluded from characters and counts after about two minutes without a valid heartbeat. Refresh an old open page to use the latest behavior.

How are visitor counts calculated?

The total includes valid visitor connections plus five chapel characters. These background characters walk, greet, sit and pray on the chapel's two floors and stairs, and take free seats during worship. They do not appear in the courtyard, snowball field, sledding hill, rehearsal room or private chapel. One person can have several connections, so this is not a unique-person count. Background characters are excluded from web analytics. The courtyard's deer, two cats and rabbit are also excluded from visitor totals and participant lists.

How do I play snowball fight?

Step on the blue entrance at the end of the right-hand path. The field is 24×24m: the central 20×20m is the play area and the two-meter border is safe. Space or Gather snow makes a shared snow pile. Approach it and choose Pick up to carry one snowball. Hold and release P or Throw to launch straight ahead. Charging takes 1.5 seconds, range is 3–12m and the interval is 900ms. A flying ball hits only its first opponent and is consumed even if it misses. Three hits remove your snowball and respawn you in the safe border. Start rolling snow and walk six meters to make a defensive snowman; it blocks snowballs but grants no rewards. The exit pad returns to the courtyard and resets ammunition and hits. Read the field's noticeboard for full rules.

How many seats are available?

The chapel has 108 seats downstairs and 24 upstairs, totaling 132. Four outdoor benches add ten seats, for 142 usable places. The indoor models show 156 positions, but the twelve places nearest the stage on each floor are not usable. Indoor pews have long book rests. Seat counts do not state a maximum number of concurrent visitors.

Can I read the Bible while seated?

Select the Bible at your own chapel seat or choose Open Bible while seated. The English reader provides all 66 books and 1,189 chapters of the public-domain World English Bible. Choose a book and chapter or search a reference, and adjust text to three sizes. Edition and source appear on each page. Your position is private and lasts during this visit; refreshing returns to the contents. Close or Escape keeps you seated. Standing up or losing the connection or seat closes the reader. Language changes keep the selected book and chapter. Edition-specific omitted or combined verses retain their original numbering.

Can I worship upstairs?

Follow the upstairs seating signs on either side of the chapel and take the stairs to the rear balcony. You can sit, read and pray together upstairs. Use the same stairs to return. Seat selection respects each floor so a nearby seat above or below you is not chosen.

Can we play together outdoors?

Choose Outside to walk in the snowy courtyard with the same character. Start rolling snow and move to grow a snowball and finish a snowman. Online visitors share the rolling and completed snowman; after a brief protection period, a moving character passing nearby breaks it. Sparklers are also shared and turn off indoors. Approach the resting deer, two cats or rabbit to pet one. Each animal accepts one visitor at a time, and movement pauses during petting. A private chapel keeps snow play on your device and does not show shared animals.

Can I change the music?

The music-note button opens a small player. Use Previous, Next or the playlist, then fold it away with the same note button. There are 32 hymns, Christmas carols and reflective instrumentals, grouped by mood. Playback continues to the next track and attempts to begin on entry. If your browser blocks autoplay, the player waits until your first screen interaction or movement key. You can pause or cancel it anytime. Leaving the tab or window pauses audio; returning resumes the same track. Music you turned off stays off. If resuming is blocked, interact with the screen once. Each recording's source, creator, license and encoding changes are listed below.

What is Support the creator?

Find Support the creator in More or Settings, from either chapel or courtyard. It is an optional contribution toward creating and running this space. All features work without contributing. The offering box near the stage is scenery only.

Can I change my character's name?

A random name is initially chosen from 56 biblical people. In More, open Settings and Change nickname to choose a name of 1–12 characters, including Korean, English, Japanese or emoji. Your name appears above your character; smaller screens prioritize nearby visitors and active chatters. Online changes are public in real time. This browser remembers the name, but clearing browser data or using another device may change it. Use a nickname instead of a real name or contact information.

Is Noël an actual church service?

Noël is a small web space for prayer and reflection. It offers automatic daily dawn prayer and Sunday worship scenes on the schedule above. It is not an official church livestream and does not record attendance. Everyone is welcome to visit and stay at their own pace.

Can I visit without signing up?

No email signup or login form is required. An anonymous browser connection distinguishes prayers and candles, so another device or browser may be treated as a different visitor.

Who can see my prayer?

Prayers and names submitted in the online chapel are public to other visitors. Open the list near either Christmas tree by the stage, or write near the pastor or while praying standing or seated. Write and Read tabs separate composing from reading. A name is optional. Confirm public sharing and press Send to post; drafts are never sent automatically. Do not include personal details or contact information. In the private device-only chapel, records stay in this browser and are not automatically uploaded. Visitors' prayers, chat and nicknames stay in their original languages.

How long does a candle stay lit?

Approach the downstairs candle table and press Light a candle once. The camera stays in place and progress and results are announced. Approaching alone does not light it. The candle panel in More remains available. A visitor's candle is counted for 24 hours after lighting; another cannot be added while it is active.

Which Bible translations are used?

The 36 ordinary projector passages are Noël's own renderings based on the public-domain World English Bible, with English source links below. They are not quotations from a modern copyrighted Japanese or Korean translation. The English full reader and scheduled Scripture use the World English Bible; Japanese uses the original 1954/1955 Kougo-yaku edition, and Korean uses the 1961 Korean Revised Version. Every reader page identifies its actual edition and source.

Does it work on mobile and tablets?

Noël adapts to phones, tablets and desktops. Hold the translucent joystick to walk, or briefly tap a clear floor to follow its circle automatically; direct input cancels the route. Drag empty space to look without selecting a destination. Inputs and dialogs stop walking. Pray and Greet are directly available at the lower right; nearby seats, pastor, trees, candle table, instruments and doors reveal their actions. Find the bell, photo and screen controls in More, and music at the note button. Hide UI leaves the scenery; the eye button restores it. Lower scene quality or turn snow off in Settings if needed. Reduced motion also stops automatic projector changes. Audio starts after your first interaction if autoplay is restricted.
